Hong Kong skipper Anshuman Rath said after his side’s defeat to Pakistan in their first game at the Asia Cup 2018 was largely down to their batsmen not putting enough runs on the board despite the surface being a good one to bat on.
“There were lots of soft dismissals for us and 116 was not enough. It was a good wicket; credit goes to the Pakistan bowlers. Our off-spinners are top class, but we just didn’t have enough runs on the board,” Rath said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
“I think early on it swung a bit and there was a bit of bounce. We got starts but we couldn’t convert them. One fifty-run partnership is not enough to post a good total,” he added.
Pakistan won the game by eight wickets after dismissing Hong Kong for 166 in 37.1 overs after the associate nation won the toss and chose to bat. Pakistan chased down the target in 23.4 overs.
