There is still no clarity on the extent of All-rounder Hardik Pandya’s injury. The only update provided by the BCCI so far is that he is “being assessed by the medical team” and that the media “will be kept posted.” It remains unclear if Pandya will play any further part in the tournament.
Pandya was stretchered off the field during the league encounter against Pakistan on Wednesday after sustaining an acute lower back injury. The incident took place in the 18th over of the Pakistan innings when he was bowling his fifth over.
On his fifth delivery Pandya, after completing his follow through, immediately went down and looked to be in considerable pain. He was unable to get up and was stretchered off the field. Pandya had figures 4.5-0-24-0 at the time.
