Talented Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been striving to reclaim full fitness since injuring himself in the Asia Cup encounter against Pakistan. Although there’s no denying of Hardik’s exceptional talent, the cricketer has often been lambasted for wasting himself by the greats like Sunil Gavaskar and Michael Holding.
While Gavaskar had blasted Pandya for not fulfilling his potential during the Test series in England, Holding had said that the player is not an all-rounder in Test cricket and shouldn’t be compared to the legendary Kapil Dev at all.
When asked about Gavaskar and Holding’s comments in an interview with TOI, Hardik said: “No sir. Why would it hurt? They’ve played so much cricket. Let them say it. It’s OK. I’ve heard them so much. I respect that. I’m worthy enough that they’re talking about me. If I wasn’t, they wouldn’t have said anything about me! I take it in a positive way.”
Be it the South Africa series or the England tour, Hardik hasn’t quite been able to make the most of seam-friendly conditions and give India that additional bowling option from the pace department. In terms of his batting displays, Pandya has continued to remain inconsistent.
