Pakistan opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq, who was taken to the hospital after suffering a head injury in the middle of the 2nd ODI against New Zealand, has been cleared to rejoin the national team. In a tweet on the official Twitter Handle, the Pakistan Cricket Board wrote, “Imam ul Haq all scans clear. He joined the team and will remain under observation of Team Physio.”
The incident took place in the 13th over when a short delivery from Lockie Ferguson struck the helmet grille Imam-ul-Haq. Imam immediately fell down to the ground as the physios rushed to the ground to take a look at him. After a while, he stood up but still continued to look dizzy on the field, which prompted the physios to take him off the field, declaring him retired hurt.
Imam’s injury did not cost Pakistan the match with Fakhar Zaman scoring a run-a-ball 88 to take his side to an easy win by 6 wickets. Zaman was well supported on the other end by Babar Azam who scored 46. Mohammed Hafeez also played a hefty contribution, scoring a handy 27 runs as the hosts chased down the target of 210 with still 10 overs to spare.
