Due to the incompetence of CEO Ashley De Silva, Aruna De Silva, the controversial head of administration at Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has emerged as the most dominant board official in recent times. Moreover, now he has also taken the centre stage during the international matches at home, by forcing himself in the post match presentations.
In the first test against England at Galle also, Aruna De Silva was shockingly presented on the podium during Rangana Herath farewell ceremony as well. At that time, many former players and administrators expressed their disappointment on SLC disgusting act to allow Aruna De Silva, as he has been accused of many wrongdoings!
“For Kandy test, no other SLC official was there. So, Aruna De Silva was present at the post match presentation” a top SLC official told Cricket Age.
However, Cricket Age learns that it has become a habit of Aruna De Silva to stay during the outstation matches to just claim his allowances.
It is noteworthy that Aruna De Silva is considered as one of the close associate of former SLC President Thilanga Sumathipala. After Sumathipala’s departure from the SLC on May 31st, Aruna De Silva has mysteriously been involved in ruining the image of the board time and again. During the South Africa series in August, he was accused of leaking some confidential facts about Sports Minister Faizer Mustapha’s complimentary tickets distribution. Last month, he manipulated things with Sri Lanka’s leading car dealer Carmart to get an updated version of luxury vehicle without any extra cost. Interestingly, Carmart belongs to Sumathipala’s relative’s.
