Hardik is recovering from an acute lower back spasm suffered during a Group-A Asia Cup match against Pakistan on September 19. He said that he is looking for a comeback in the ODI series against Australia which will start on January 12 next year in Sydney.
“I am focussed on my recovery. In fact, I have just started bowling again after almost 60 days. So, it is a good feeling,” Pandya said on the sidelines of a promotional event of a petroleum giant in the city yesterday.
“I am eager to make a comeback and I am hoping to be fit for the ODI series against Australia,” he said, adding, “Apart from recovery, I am utilising the time to work on my fitness too. So, I am expecting to be fitter when I am back.” Incidentally, Hardik is considered to be one of the fittest players in the side.
While he will cheer for his teammates from the comfort of his home, Hardik is excited for another Pandya – his elder brother Krunal Pandya – in the side. “It is always great to see your brother in the side,” Hardik said of his brother, who had made his debut against West Indies in the recently concluded home T20Is. “I am happy for him and hope to play with him someday,” Hardik said of his all-rounder brother.
