Rohit Sharma found his way back into the Test squad as India announced their final XII for the first Test against Australia at Adelaide Oval, starting Thursday.
India will be playing a four-Test series in Australia and as they look for a first-ever Test series victory down under, the beginning to which will be very crucial. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is set to miss the first Test in Australia as India went with three genuine pacers in Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah.
Ahead of the first Test, former India pacer Zaheer Khan had backed Umesh Yadav in place of Ishant Sharma for the first Test but captain Kohli decided to go with the experience of Ishant in the Australian conditions.
In terms of the batting department, it looked more or less sorted with the only change of plan that the Indian management had had to make was triggered by Prithvi Shaw’s untimely injury in the warm-up match.
India went down 2-0 last time when they traveled to Australia, as the hosts won two out of the four matches with very small margins. However, this time things are different and Kohli’s men will be a lot confident against a struggling Australian side which is recovering from the ball-tampering scandal earlier in the year.
