Written by N Krishnamurthy

The much awaited Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) election has been postponed indefinitely, Cricket Age reliably learns. After the ultimatum from the International Cricket Council (ICC), the election were scheduled in the first week of February next year.

In May this year, former SLC secretary Nishantha Ranatunga dragged then President Thilanga Sumathipala into the court over the illegal appointment of election committee. Since then, the Sports Ministry appointeed competent authority Kamal Padmasiri is running the show at SLC.

According to sources, the election has been postponed due to some legal hurdles.

According to the cricket constitution, two Vice Presidents can be appointed. However, according to the Sports Act, a post of Vice President of any association should be given to the school association.

However, the newly appointed electoral committee was trying to hold this election for the posts of Vice President too.

So, when the school association took legal advice, it became apparent that election would be postponed.
