Ramesh Powar, former India women’s team coach who made headlines for indifference with senior batter Mithali Raj, eyes another term of coaching contract as he will appear for an interview before the BCCI selection panel on Thursday. Besides Ramesh Powar, former India men’s team coach Gary Kirsten and South Africa’s Herschelle Gibbs are the top contenders for the job among the 10 shortlisted candidates.
The high-profile short-list which will be interviewed by an ad-hoc panel comprising ex-India players Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy.
Powar’s controversial interim tenure ended on November 30 after a bitter fallout with ODI captain and senior player Mithali Raj over selection issues.
