As Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has become a political experiments factory, now newly appointed Sports Minister Harin Fernando has indicated to bring yet another selection committee, by replacing Asantha De Mel led panel, Cricket Age reliably learns.
Just one week prior Sri Lanka’s departure for New Zealand tour, Asantha De Mel led selection committee had replaced Graeme Labrooy. Labrooy had the backing of Former Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara. Asantha De Mel directly landed at SLC from a political leader’s office. Now, Harin Fernando indicates to bring his choice of selectors! According to sources, either he will bring entire new selection committee, or will bring one or two new selectors.
Not only this, by indicating of another postponement of SLC proposed election, Harin is expected to bring a former player to run the SLC. The said former player will head the interim committee. However, the hilarious thing is that the said former player has done nothing for the betterment of Sri Lanka Cricket in last one decade!
