The proposed Tier B tournament of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) is set to be kicked off soon after Court, on Friday, dismissed An appeal of Nugegoda cricket club, Cricket Age learns.

On December 30, Cricket Age had published that in the influence of former SLC President Thilanga Sumathipala, the Nugegoda cricket club managed to put tournament on hold by dragging the matter into Court and obtaining an order. The tournament was originally scheduled to start from December 21.

According to sources, the club was demanding to be promoted to Tier B, with claims by its officials that they are one of the semi finalist in division two tournament. Sumathipala has long been supporting the club and was unethically trying to push the club  it to tier B.

However, The tournament committee, led by Samantha Dodanwela, refused to promote the Nugegoda club as per the SLC playing conditions and regulations.

After that, instead of accepting the right decision of tournament committee, the club unnecessarily went to court.

It is noteworthy that Sumathipala is controlling the club from behind the scenes and Ashley De Silva, SLC CEO and his loyal, was carrying his orders!
