aina Nehwal became the first Indian female badminton player to win the Indonesia Masters title on Sunday. However, the 28-year-old Indian ace was not happy with the manner of victory as her opponent in the finals, Carolina Marin limped out of the contest due to a knee injury. The Indonesia Masters 2019 champion shared pictures from the finals with a message to make a quick recovery.
Seeing such a sportsmanship act, former Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar shared a photo of Saina Nehwal helping an injured Carolina Marin on his Twitter handle as well to congratulate Saina and wished Carolina to get well soon.
Sachin writes, “Wonderful to see @NSaina play incredibly well to reach the finals of the #IndonesiaMasters2019 and go on to become the first Indian woman shuttler to win it. Saina has had her fair share of injuries and has come out fighting fit, I’m sure @CarolinaMarin will bounce back too.”
Saina Nehwal has also faced a fair share of injuries in her career. She had suffered a shin injury late last year. She mentioned about it in her interview. “I just came out of injury. I played this events to see how good is this. and I’m happy I could play the semifinals at Malaysia and final here. Looking forward to get back to shape and play next tournament,” she said.
