New Zealand’ 8-wicket win in 4th ODI came after Trent Boult steered through the Indian batting order, bagging 5 wickets for 21 runs to restrict Rohit Sharma’s men for an embarrassing total of 92 runs. The reaction to the Men in Blue’s defeat from ICC CEO David Richardson, however, was a rather unexpected one.
Richardson made a rather controversial remark on the result as he said: “Every dog has its day” on being asked by a reporter about India’s 8-wicket defeat.
Although the fourth and fifth ODIs between India and New Zealand hold no value in terms of the outcome of the series, the nature of defeat has raised a few questions on the middle-order’s ability to absorb pressure in times where the opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma fails to fire.
