Legendary Sachin Tendulkar has lauded both Shaw and Gill by saying that both of them have massive potential but added that the youngsters should enjoy their cricket.
“I’ve spoken about Prithvi earlier as well, having watched him bat in the nets as a little boy, all of 8-9 years of age, he had something special even back then. I knew instantly that he would play for India,” Tendulkar told Timesofindia.com.
“Shubman also played a crucial role in last year’s U-19 World Cup and has had a good domestic season, so both of them (Prthivi and Shubman) have a lot of potential. Having said that, these boys have just started playing for India and they should enjoy their cricket,” Tendulkar added.
Shaw made a roaring Test debut against West Indies in 2018, where he smashed 134 in his debut innings as India defeated Windies by an innings and 272 runs.
Whereas Gill, who was scoring runs for fun while playing for Punjab in Ranji Trophy and for India A, was handed his debut call-up against New Zealand in the fourth and fifth ODI and was named in the T20I squad for the three-match series against the Kiwis.
