The lady accountant of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has continuesly been passing confidential information of account department to a certain camp, Cricket Age reliably learns.
Right now, there is an independent forensic audit is going on at SLC, after Sports Minister Harin Fernando’s instructions on February 28.
According to sources, the said lady accountant was previously associated with Colombo Cricket Club (CCC), where Sumathipala’s right hand Shammi Silva is the president. Shammi Silva, who doesn’t know anything about accounting, had mysteriously served SLC as treasurer during Sumathipala disastrous tenure. According to sources, Shammi Silva planted lady accountant at SLC without following the proper procedure. Moreover, now she is eyeing on head of finance position, even though she has no qualifications for the post and can’t speak English either.
On January 19, Cricket Age had published that the lady accountant of SLC has deliberately stopped or delayed all financial payments of the board.
“At the moment, there is no functioning cricket board at Maitland place and is under control of Harin Fernando and his secretary Chulananda Perera, who is looking after board’s day to day affairs as competent authority. That’s why, through account department, Shammi Silva is trying to show that Sports Ministry is incompetent in running the SLC” a SLC insider told Cricket Age.
Shammi Silva, one of the most controversial and notorious Official of Sumathipala camp, is contesting for the president post in the upcoming election.
