Indian cricketer Suresh Raina took to Twitter to let his fans know that he was alive, after some YouTube channels posted videos reporting his death, last week. The reports of his accident were doing rounds on social media for a while now. Raina in his post requested the people to ignore any such fake news and also assured his fans of his well being. The cricketer also said that the youtube channels, which spread the fake news, have been reported and strict action will be taken against them.
In a Tweet, Raina wrote, “Past few days there has been fake news of me being hurt in a car accident. The hoax has my family & friends deeply disturbed. Please ignore any such news; with god’s grace I’m doing absolutely fine. Those YouTube channels have been reported & hope strict actions will be taken soon”
The Indian cricketer is currently preparing for the Indian Premier League where he plays for the Chennai Super Kings. This year’s tournament starts on 23 March.
Raina last played for India during the limited-overs leg of the tour of England in June-July 2018.
His hopes of making it to the squad for the 2019 World Cup might be slim but he will be hopeful of putting on a fine display for his franchise Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League, which gets underway on March 29. Raina has played 18 Tests and 226 ODIs for India amassing 768 and 5615 runs respectively in the two formats.
