Kusal Perera made history in Durban. On the fourth day of first test, when Sri Lanka were certain to face anotger humiliating defeat, Perera emerged as saviour. Against world’s best bowling line up, Perera produced probably the greatest test innings of all time and miraculously won the match for Sri Lanka!
It will indeed go down as one of the greatest victory in Cricket history. Not only Sri Lanka fans, entire world cricket and fans around the globe are equally thrilled with the miracle and hailing, saluting Perera and his teammates alike!
However, amidst all these, just few hours after Durban miracle, a dodgy video surfaced on social sites, where all the Sri Lanka players are praising head coach Chandika Hathurasingha!
The timing was absolute wrong. Sri Lanka won, because of Kusal Perera composure and determination. Sri Lanka won, because of Vishwa Fernando’s courage. Sri Lanka won because of chief selector Asantha De Mel, who backed Perera for the test squad.
More importantly, Sri Lanka didn’t win because of Hathurasingha.
The timing of the video is suspectful for another reason! In last few weeks, after it emerged that Hathurusingha had charged Sri Lanka cricket 60,000 dollars for a assessment report, he has been facing a backlash from all the corners. Sports Ministry has approached AGs department to review Hathurusingha’s contract. He has been removed as one of the selector. Right now, Hathurusingha is not in good terms neither with SLC nor with selection committee. The cricket fans have also realized the ‘true interest‘ of 7.5 million paid Hathurasingha and are crying for his removal.
In this scenario, why entire Sri Lanka team suddenly decided to praise the coach? More importantly, who leaked that video to media and who will be benefited by this video?
It looks like the players were forced to praise Hathurusingha, as it seems unreal that suddenly all players decided to praise the coach by their own!
Surprisingly, few weeks ago, few Sri Lanka players were praising Hathurusingha and then batting coach Thilan Samaraweera. Now, as Samaraweera has been removed by SLC, players are praising Hathurusingha. Obviously, it seems that someone has forced the players to sing praising songs!
Another noteworthy fact is that Kusal Perera was mysteriously dropped from the first test against Australia few weeks ago. Cricket Age learns that few from the team management conspired against Perera and kept him out of the squad. Now, same set of people’s are using him for their survival!
On twitter, Cricket fans have already got annoyed by this dirty trick and lambasting the unidentified person, who leaked this video. The Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) also must inquire, who made this video and leaked it to media!
