After Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC), one of the most reputed Cricket Club in Sri Lanka cricket, took a decision to give mandate in favour of Jayantha Dharmadasa-Nishantha Ranatunga Side in the today’s board election, the other clubs have also following the path and have come in numbers to support the winning combination.
It is noteworthy that Mohan De Silva is the vice president of SSC, even then he could not secure, as the club has decided to give both the votes to Dharmadasa side. According to sources, Nishantha played a major role in securing both the votes of SSC.
According to sources, after SSC decision, several other provinces and district cricket associations mainly Uva Province, Rathnapura District Cricket Association, Polonuwara District, Central Province have also given mandate in favour of Jayantha Dharmadasa and Nishantha Ranatunga Camp.
Cricket Age learns that in Wednesday as soon as it became clear that Mohan De Silva, who has a clean image in otherwise notorious bunch of people’s in Sumathipala camp, won’t be allowed to contest for the presidential post, majority of clubs have decided to go with Dharmadasa-Ranatunga side.
It is noteworthy that, Arjuna Ranatunga, the legendary world cup winning captain, is also contesting from the Dharmadasa side for the vice president post.
The election to be held today at 10 A.M. at the Duncan White Auditorium of the ministry of Sports.
