ICC to Slap Two Years Ban on former legendary Sri Lanka Player

After finishing it’s six months long investigation on corruption and match fixing, The International Cricket Council (ICC) is all set to impose a two years ban on a former legendary Sri Lanka cricketer, Cricket Age reliably learns. The decision to be announced on February 28th, When ICC Chief executive committee’s meetings starts in Dubai.

According to sources, the said former player is one of the most iconic player in Sri Lanka cricket history and has served the cricket after his retirement as well. Along with him, the ICC is going to charge few other lesser known players as well on corruption and match fixing charges.

Cricket Age learns that these players were involved in suspicious incidents, that happened during the last two years, when Thilanga Sumathipala led administration was in power at Maitland place. During this period, then Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara also mysteriously kept anti match fixing law under carpet!

It is noteworthy that in last few months, the ICC has been investigating at many levels in Sri Lanka. Last month, the ICC even launched an emnesty in its process to gather the information from the players and administrators.

Yesterday, Sri Lanka’s Sports Minister Harin Fernando also indicated on Derena 360 that the ICC revelation on the said legendary player would be come out on February 28th.

However, it seems the ICC is still focusing only on ‘Small Fishes’ in the network of corruption and match fixing in Sri Lankat, while the Guardians of that empire have reemerged at highest level!
