The auditor general Gamini Wijesinghe, on Friday, went to Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) regarding their ongoing forensic audit after the top board officials refused to do operate in the investigation, Cricket Age reliably learns.
On January 28, Sports Minister Harin Fernando had instructed his secretary and then SLC Competent Authority Chulananda Perera to carry on a forensic audit from 1st January 2016 to 31st 2018 and submit the final report within two weeks.
However, even after a month, the forensic audit could not be completed. Cricket Age learns that the SLC officials, particularly CEO Ashley De Silva and accountant Kamalika Jayasekara refused to do operate in the investigation on ‘interested parties’ instructions. Kamalika is a former employee of Colombo Cricket Club (CCC) and now inone of the most unfortunate incident in Sri Lanka cricket, CCC president Shammi Silva has been elected as board President. According to sources, even yesterday, Kamalika was instructing board employees to bat give any evidence, documents for forensic audit.
The Auditor General has gone to SLC at the time when Shammi Silva and Mohan De Silva are attending ICC meetings in Dubai. Interestingly, Shammi Silva’s father Piyadasa De Silva (Piyadasa Mudalali) was the manager of Sumathipala’s Sporting Star and now he is all set to attend the ICC meeting and take action against corruption and match fixing! And, Mohan De Silva, who could not contest President election due to alleged financial fraud in 2005 administration, Will also give his input to ICC.
