Indian skipper Virat Kohli smashed his second consecutive ton in the ongoing five-match ODI series against Australia. Kohli’s 123-run knock was also his 41st ODI century and the 30-year-old now stands second behind Sachin Tendulkar in the list of most ODI tons. Former Aussie cricketer and a legend of the game, Shane Warne took to social media platform Twitter to continue the debate over who is better between Kohli and Tendulkar. Warne added one more name to the discussion as the leg-spinner mentioned Windies legend Brian Lara’s name.
“just got asked if I thought @imVkohli is better than @BrianLara or @sachin_rt. Let me think about that and come back to you I said. @ivivianrichards to me was the best batsman after Bradman, but in modern times mmmmm. Tough one ! Thoughts followers whilst I contemplate ?” wrote Warne on Twitter.
On Friday, Kohli’s phenomenal knock of 123 runs went in vain as Australia defeated India by 32 runs to stay alive in the five-match ODI series. En route to his 123-run innings, Virat smashed 16 boundaries and one six as he tormented the Aussie bowlers in MS Dhoni’s hometown Ranchi.
Earlier, after Kohli’s ton and Australia’s win, Warne had praised the Indian skipper for his stupendous attitude and congratulated Aaron Finch for the win.
“I love watching @imVkohli bat & play cricket as he never ever gives up & always believes his team can win when he’s batting. Just a terrific attitude & one that warms my heart. Congrats to Oz on a wonderful win, some great signs with bat & ball ! Very happy for @AaronFinch5 too !” Warne had tweeted.
