Australia, on Wednesday, pulled off a massive upset as they completed a double over India after defeating them 3-2 in the five-match ODI series. Earlier, India were defeated 2-0 in the two-match T20I series as the Aaron Finch-led Aussies gave out a solid statement ahead of the World Cup 2019. India were 2-0 up after the completion of the first two ODIs, but went on to lose the next three games on the trot. Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, after the series defeat, posted a string of tweets criticising the performance of the Indian middle order while congratulating Australia for the double.
“Really disappointing with Pant and Shankar today, what a great chance to show their ability. Shankar may have the big shots but he is no Pant, must learn to keep the strike rate up by hitting more along the ground just like his captain does. #AusvIndia,” wrote Manjrekar.
“Delighted for Australia! Exceptional series win! Their country must be so proud, this is what they wanted, a winning team that’s also a very likeable team. #cricketaustralia,” Manjrekar wrote in another tweet.
“Whoever gets picked in the end, India’s middle order will be its Achilles heel in the WC 2019,” the former Indian batsman said.
