India has the bowling attack to win 2019 World Cup: Bowling coach Bharat Arun

Written by Vishwas Gupta

Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun is confident about India’s chances of lifting the coveted World Cup trophy this year and believes the Men in Blue have the bowling attack to go all the way at the showpiece event in England and Wales.

India currently have three bowlers in top ten ODI rankings with pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah maintaining his dominance on the top for quite a while now. The formidable duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal are placed 6th and 8th respectively. The experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar has had his own share of injuries and form issues but he is still going strong at the 16th rank.

“We have the bowling to win the World Cup in England. We have the right kind of pacemen, wrist spinners, finger spinner and support bowlers,” bowling coach Arun was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

“In Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar, India has two of the best ODI bowlers in world cricket. And Shami, with his speed and movement, can win you games. India has a formidable pace pack. And it is backed by a very good spin attack,” he added.

While Bumrah has been in stellar form for the past couple of years notching up wickets on a regular basis, Mohammed Shami’s return to form has been a major boost for India. Shami was the highest wicket-taker for Kohli & Co in the ODI series against New Zealand and has since shown great consistency with the ball. His fitness was also hailed by skipper Kohli during the recently-concluded ODI series against Aussies, who admitted that it was the best shape he has ever seen Shami in.
