Dwayne Bravo played an instrumental role in Chennai Super Kings’ victory over Rajasthan Royals on Sunday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. With 12 runs needed off the last over and Ben Stokes on the strike, MS Dhoni handed the ball to the West Indian all-rounder. And Bravo proved his worth by successfully defending that score against the marauding Stokes and Jofra Archer. Even though the 37-year-old Bravo has seen his powers vain with age, skipper Dhoni has always trusted him in crucial situations. After the match, Bravo was all praise for his CSK captain, saying that he feeds off MSD’s energy.
“Feeding off his energy and he also encouraged me to be positive, that is important. I enjoy batting with him because he makes batting so easy. He puts the opposition under so much pressure,” said Bravo.
Dhoni also played a big role in getting CSK off the finishing line against the Royals. He was in rampaging form against RR as he smashed them for 75 runs in just 46 balls. He came out to bat when CSK were reeling at 27 for three wickets and he tried to play cautiously at the start. But he unleashed an array of power-hitting in the final overs. Dhoni smashed Jaydev Unadkat for 28 runs in the last over to propel CSK’s score past 170.
Now CSK will look to continue their brilliant form when they take on Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.
