Former Sri Lanka player and one of the most successful coach in Sri Lanka domestic cricket circuit Mathumudalige Pushpkumara has been appointed as the head coach of the Kuwait national team.
As Kuwait, an associate member of International Cricket Council (ICC), is gearing up to participate in T20 world cup qualifiers from July 20th to 29th in Singapore, Pushpkumara to take up the head coach job for next three months, during that period he will be on probation. Singapore, Malaysia, UAE and Nepal will be other team’s in the qualifiers.
Pushpkumara, Who played 3 ODIs for Sri Lanka, has been associated with prestigious Colts Cricket Club since 2013. Under his guidance, Colts Cricket Club won 2014-15 ODI Championship and was runner up in 2015-16 and 2016-17. A highly respected Coach, Pushpkumara has been credited to sharpen players like Dilruwan Perera, Akila Dananjaya, Avishka Fernando, Sadeera Samarwikrama, Kusal Perera and many more.
Cricket Age understands that Colts Cricket Club President Nishantha Ranatunga has also given him the permission to take over Kuwait head coach job.
