Kings XI Punjab on Tuesday continued their stellar run in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 as they defeated Rajasthan Royals by 12 runs at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali to go fourth in the points table with five wins out of nine matches. After the crucial win, KXIP skipper Ravichandran Ashwin heaped praise on debutant Arshdeep Singh who scalped the vital wickets of Jos Buttler and Ajinkya Rahane to put a dent on RR’s chasing hopes.
Ashwin said that KXIP had some plans on how to deal with the in-form Buttler and commended Arshdeep for carrying out the plan brilliantly. The KXIP skipper further hailed left-arm medium pacer for his ability to swing the ball both ways and compared his unique ability with Chennai Super Kings’ ace seamer Deepak Chahar, who has been enjoying a great IPL 2019 so far.
“I thought Arshdeep bowled really well in the first few overs. We had some plans for Jos and he really executed well. Mujeeb also I thought was brilliant, he went for a few runs but we got the wicket up front. He (Arshdeep) can actually swing the ball both ways and for a left-hander to swing both ways is a massive advantage in the first six as we have seen with Deepak Chahar in the CSK. We are looking forward to Arshdeep doing some great things in the tournament,” said Ashwin in the post-match presentation.
KXIP will next face Delhi Capitals at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi.
