Mumbai Indians’ fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah joined an elite list of players after winning the match of the match award in the Indian Premier League (IPL) final against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.
Bumrah recorded incredible figures of 2/14 to fire Mumbai to an unprecedented fourth IPL title at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. His bowling effort at the death played a vital role in restricting CSK one run short of the target as Bumrah ended with an economy rate of 3.50.
Mumbai Indians uploaded a picture on social media which showed all the man of the match awardees in IPL finals over the years. Interestingly, Bumrah became only the second bowler in the history of the tournament to win this honour in a final.
The first bowler to do so was Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Anil Kumble, who recorded unbelievable figures of 4/16 against Deccan Chargers in 2009 edition of the tournament. However, RCB lost the title by 6 runs despite Jumbo’s heroics.
After a successful IPL campaign, Bumrah is now gearing up for the all-important ICC World Cup 2019, which is scheduled to be played in England and Wales, starting May 30. India will begin their campaign against South Africa on June 5.
