Ashley De Silva, the incompetent CEO, has taken Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) on ransom since last one decade and running it as his private company to fulfill a particular camp’s agendas and wrongdoings. The current fraudulent case of SLC controversial head of administration Aruna De Silva highlights the same, that Ashley De Silva can go to any extent, when it comes to commit wrongdoings!
In last two and half years, Aruna De Silva has been fast tracked into SLC and eventually was appointed head of administration (largely due to his other skills of managing things for his guardians and their guardians).
Few months ago, Aruna De Silva first arranged almost one of the entire stand’s tickets for then Sports Minister Faizer Mustapha’s political campaign and then was accused for leaking the same information to media. Then, once he stayed in a hotel in Colombo for a night that cost SLC half a million. Ashley ordered for an inquiry, but the result of the inquiry never came out. Just few weeks ago, Aruna involved in a verbal fight with SLC treasurer and emerged a winner!
Now, Aruna De Silva has done something wrong again! And this time, at international level! Moreover, the main culprit of the fraud is Ashley De Silva!
As Sri Lanka’s most iconic former world cup winning captain Arjuna Ranatunga stated in an exclusive interview on local TV station in Sri Lanka last week, Aruna De Silva took two leaves from the SLC at the same time- annual leave and duty leave! Annual leave, because he wanted to go to UK to watch the World Cup. Duty leave, because he wanted to hoodwink UK ambassy in getting Visa by showing that all his expenses to be paid by SLC!
Ashley De Silva fulfilled his both the wishes, by issuing a letter.
And, it was an international fraud to get Visa things done! As Arjuna mentioned in his interview, after this sort of fruad, UK ambassy in future will be suspicious on all the visa demands of the SLC!
And, the blame for this fraud goes to Ashley. As a CEO of SLC, it was his duty to bat promote this sort of wrongdoings. But, Ashley disastrous and never ending tenure as CEO is full of these kind of wrongdoings! More importantly, it shows the real picture of SLC, how it has become notorious for doing almost all the things in wrong way!
