Sri Lanka have recalled Top order batsman Shehan Jayasuriya, allrounder Wanindu Hasaranga and off spinner Akila Dananjaya for the three match ODI series against Bangladesh, Cricket Age reliably learns.
Allrounder Dasun Shanaka, after an impressive showing with the bat in Sri Lanka A team recently concluded India tour and in the warm up match against Bangladesh yesterday, has also been named in the squad for last two ODIs, replacing fast bowler Lasith Malinga, who has announced retirement after first match.
Shehan, an elegant left-hand batsman, was left out from World Cup squad, in order to accommodate bits and pieces players like Jeevan Mendis and Milinda Siriwardena. However, some standout performances against India A brought him back into the national team.
Both Dasun Shanaka and Akila Dananjaya toured India with Sri Lanka A team and produced impressive performances.
Akila, who was also mysteriously overlooked for World Cup in order to accommodate Jeevan Mendis into the squad, took 3 wickets in last match against India A in Hubli.
Dasun Shanaka, meanwhile, had also a successful India tour with three quick fire scores of 30, 20 and 44. Yesterday, against Bangladesh in a warm up match also, he scored a sparkling half century, laden with six sixes.
The selection committee, led by Asantha De Mel, has left out openers Danushka Gunathilika and Niroshan Dickwella, after naming them into preliminary squad.
The teams will play three one-day internationals on July 26, 28 and 31 at the Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo.
Sri Lanka are yet to announce squad officially.
