Sports Minister Harin Fernando on Tuesday Asked Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) to openly advertise all expired contracts, followed by an evaluation process prior to renewal, Cricket Age exclusively learns.
Right after the World Cup, Sri Lanka Cricket is going through a controversial phase over removing, hiring and extending the contracts of few of the non performing individuals, including national team head coach Chandika Hathurasingha and SLC Chief Cricket operations officer Asanka Gurusinha.
As both former players have turned epic failure in their respective responsibilities, the top SLC officials have rightly decided to parted ways with both of them. However, former SLC President Thilanga Sumathipala is strongly backing both Hathurusingha and Gurusinha and is trying various tricks to fulfill his sinister plot.
However, with this directive by Harin Fernando, now it will become impossible for Sumathipala to continue with his drama!
“Please be informed that all existing contracts within SLC that has been expired as of now, should be openly advertised and followed by an evaluation process prior to renewal” Harin Fernando’s letter, addressed to SLC President Shammi Silva, reads.
Hathurusingha’s matter is still pending, as SLC has handed him a charge sheet. For Gurusinha, meanwhile, Sumathipala passed a illegal resolution yesterday, with his loyals.
However, after Harin Fernando’s this directive, the so called resolution has turned out a wastage paper, as SLC is bound of obey the directive of the Sports Minister, as per country’s Sports Law.
