The Committee Of Public Interprises (COPE), which is investigating the frauds and corruptions of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC), Thursday agreed to summon all the past administrators and officials of the board if requires, Cricket Age reliably learns.
The COPE commenced it’s investigation on September 3, where few top board administrators and officials were questioned over various transactions, bank accounts.
The next investigation was scheduled for today, however, due to emergency cabinet meeting, the ministers of COPE could not proceed with the inquiry.
However, during the 10 minutes meeting with SLC administrators, COPE members were agreed to extend their investigation to all the past board administrators if they feels the requirement.
“On the request of board President Mr. Shammi Silva, COPE members agreed to summon all past administrators, if they feels it’s necessary” a senior SLC administrator, who was present in the parliament for the investigation, told Cricket Age.
The standing order for COPE also refers the same, that reads:
“The committee or any of its sub-committees shall for the performance of its duties have the power to summon before it and question any person and call for and examine any paper, book, record or other document and to have access to stores and property.”
The COPE will soon decide on the next date for the investigation.
