SLC Top Brass Meets ICC Chief In Dubai Over TV Rights Deal

Written by Sumit Seth

The top brass of Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) had a fruitful meeting with International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Shashank Manohar during their long week stay in Dubai, Cricket Age reliably learns.

The meeting took place on October 14 at a hotel, where SLC President Shammi Silva, Secretary Mohan De Silva, Vice president Ravin Wickramaratne, treasurer Lasantha Wickramsingha and CEO Ashley De Silva took the guidance and blessings of Shashank over forthcoming TV rights deal.

The lucrative deal is scheduled for March 2020 and will be locked for next five years.

Meanwhile, in an amazing coincidence, as SLC Top brass returned to Colombo on Thursday, Sri Lanka’s Cricket loving Sports Minister Harin Fernando (Amids his busy political schedule due to upcoming presidential election)  flee to Dubai on the same day!

It is noteworthy that Harin Fernando, on August 10, had written a letter to SLC to appoint a four member committee for the said TV broadcasting rights, that consists of – SLC President Shammi Silva, CEO Ashley De Silva, Ministry Secretary Chulananda Perera and an ICC representative.

In addition, Shashank also visited Sri Lanka for an official tour as ICC chairman and assured SLC to assist in the process!!

Shammi Silva has also put TV rights deal as his top most priority and working on 24 hours to make it big! In the process, he has little time to resolve many impending burning issues of Sri Lanka Cricket, like head coach Chandika Hathurasingha’s future, permanent head coach and spin bowling coach for national team and successer of Asanka Gurusinha at High Performance Centre!
