Former India captain Sourav Ganguly was elected as the president of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and is set to begin his reign as the leader of the cricket board from October 23. While wishes and congratulatory messages have poured in from all corners of the world for Ganguly, there was an extremely special message from Yuvraj Singh, whom Ganguly groomed under his astute leadership during the early stages of Yuvraj’s career. Yuvraj took to social media platform Twitter to post a heartfelt message for Ganguly while taking a sly dig at the much-talked-about ‘Yo-Yo Test’.
Yuvraj congratulated Ganguly for his incredible journey from Indian captain to the BCCI president and added that it will be a great insight for a cricketer to be an administrator and make others understand the role of an administrator from a player’s point of view. The former Indian cricketer then joked that it would have been better if Ganguly had been the president when Yo-Yo test was in demand – referring to the manner in which he was pushed away from the Indian team.
“Greater the man greatest the journey! Frm IndianCaptain to @BCCI president. Think it will b a gr8 insight 4 a cricketer to be an administrator & make others understand admin frm a players point of view Wish u were d president while d yoyo was in demand good luck dadi @SGanguly99,” wrote Yuvraj on Twitter.
Ganguly was quick to reply to the heartfelt message by Yuvraj while mentioning that he has helped India lift two World Cups. Dada further said that it is time to do good things for the game and its betterment.
“Thank u the best .. u have won India world cups .. time to do good things for the game now .. u r my super star .. god bless always,” Ganguly replied.
