In a big embarrassment, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) President Shammi Silva was forced to Cancel ExCo member Priyantha Zoysa Australia Joyride at the last moment, After Cricket Age Exposed the story on October 31.
Earlier in the week, Cricket Age had published in a series how SLC Shammi Silva is spending board money on the joyrides for his favourites in overseas tours! For World Cup, over 50 ExCo members, stakeholders and officials traveled to UK, for Pakistan tour Shammi Silva obliged his personal assistant Tanesh Dias. For ongoing Australia series as well, more than 10 people are already on joyrides.
While Shammi is doing all these as SLC President with the blessings of Sports Minister Harin Fernando, his close aide and SLC accountant Kamalika Jayasekara had gone to another level in committing financial fraud.
Kamalika, along with SLC head of administration Aruna De Silva, had provided air tickets and allowances to ExCo member Priyantha Zoysa!
However, the big fraud is that she had provided these to Priyantha Zoysa without any approval from ExCo or Sports Ministry.
However, after Cricket Age exposed the fraud, Shammi Silva, who is obiously in Australia for the ongoing T20I series, called Kamalika Jayasekara and Aruna De Silva and blasted them. According to sources, Shammi was furious on the leaking of this confidential wrongdoing, rather than anything else!
As after Cricket Age expose he was left with no other option, he instructed Kamalika and Aruna De Silva to cancel Priyantha Zoysa’s Australia trip, merely few hours before his scheduled flight.
It is noteworthy that Kamalika, a former employee of Shammi Silva’s Colombo Cricket Club (CCC), has already emerged as the most powerful person at SLC. Forget about ExCo members, she is notorious for not following Shammi Silva and other top officials instructions even!
