Virat Kohli set to make 400th international appearance in 2nd ODI in Vizag

when Virat Kohli will take the field for the second and penultimate ODI between India and West Indies in Visakhapatnam, he will attain another historic feat.

The 31-year-old right-hander is all set to play his 400th international game (84 Tests, 240* ODIs and 75 T20Is). He will, thus, join some of the big names in world cricket and become only the eighth Indian player to play 400 or more matches across formats.

The record will be achieved in one of Kohli’s favourite grounds in India. It was the same venue, Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, where he had attained the magical 10000-run mark in the 50-over format by virtue of his 157* last year. It was also India’s last visit to the ground for an ODI, which came against the same opposition in West Indies (the match ended in a tie). Kohli will like to make the most of the occasion and slam another memorable ton in the process.

Apart from Dravid, majority of the players in the above list represented Asia XI and ICC’s XI which helped them get to play 400 matches or more. Kohli will now join Tendulkar and Azharuddin in completing 400 international appearances without playing for Asia or the ICC’s XI.
