Indian skipper Virat Kohli reached new heights in his well-established career by playing a stupendous knock against the West Indies in the third and final One Day Internationals (ODI) at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday. Kohli scored a sublime 85-run knock to help India win the Cuttack ODI by four wickets and the three-match series 2-1 on Sunday.
The Cuttack masterclass also paved way for the Indan skipper to finish the 2019 calendar year as the leading run-getter across formats. Kohli amassed 2455 runs across all formats to finish as the leading run-scorer in 2019 calendar year. The 31-year-old also eclipsed former South African great Jacques Kallis to become the seventh-highest run-scorer in ODI history.
The Proteas batting maestro had scored 11579 runs in the 50-over format after making 314 appearances for South Africa. The list has been topped by Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, whose ODI run tally remains peerless till date. The current Indian skipper has scored 11609 runs in the 50-over mix for India, meaning King Kohli is still 6,717 runs short of levelling Sachin’s gigantic tally.
