Want to prove to myself I am still capable of playing limited-overs cricket: Ravindra Jadeja

On Sunday, India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja shone with the bat, helping India get over the line in a stiff 316-run chase against West Indies in the series decider.

Ravindra Jadeja came up with a matured 31-ball 39 as he remained unbeaten when India clinched a 4-wicket win and eventually the 3-match ODI series. His average in 2019 in ODIs was an impressive 34.33.

Jadeja stitched a 58-run stand with his captain Virat Kohli for the 6th wicket after India had lost their middle-order batsmen, including Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, cheaply. With Kohli getting out on 85, Jadeja then put on an unbeaten 30-run stand with tail-ender Shardul Thakur.

Stressing that he is looking to just prove to himself that he is still capable of contributing to the team in limited-overs cricket, Jadeja said he is trying to give his best whenever he gets an opportunity in ODIs and T20Is.

“Whenever I get an opportunity, I try and give my best. I need to prove to myself that I am still capable of playing limited-overs cricket. I don’t have to prove it to anyone else in the world. I try and give my best whether it’s bowling, fielding or batting,” Ravindra Jadeja told the press in Cuttack after Sunday’s win.
