Indian pacer Mohammed Shami is currently on a break from international cricket as he has been rested from the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka. However, there are no off days for the speedster, who is sweating it out in the gym to make sure he is ready for the challenges ahead. Shami played a lot of cricket for India last year and was deservingly given rest to manage workload in the new year.
Shami on Monday took to Twitter to share a picture from his training session in the gym. The pacer has been working hard on his fitness during his break and will be looking to make an impact when he returns in the ODI series against Australia. “Training in progress… Gearing up for the challenges ahead,” Shami tweeted.
Shami finished 2019 as the leading wicket-taker in ODIs. He enjoyed an incredible year in coloured clothing for India picking up 42 wickets in 21 games including a solitary five-wicket haul. He took four wickets more than New Zealand pacer Trent Boult, who picked up 38 wickets in 20 games and was the second leading wicket-taker in ODIs in 2019.
