Former Indian captain MS Dhoni has not played any form of cricket for more than eight months now. His last appearance for India came in the semi-final against New Zealand in the ICC World Cup 2019 last year. His absence from the Indian side has led to intense speculations over his retirement from international cricket but Dhoni has remained tight-lipped on his future.
The veteran wicket-keeper was expected to make his way back into the Indian side after making his comeback in the new season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, Dhoni will have to wait for a while as IPL 2020 has been postponed from March 29 to April 15 in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, which has ruined the sports calendar forcing several major sporting events to be suspended or cancelled.
However, Dhoni is not going to retire anytime soon and gets angry when his close friends ask him about his retirement. One of Dhoni’s close friend, whose character was depicted in the movie ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ recently revealed that Dhoni still feels he is one of the quickest keepers in the country and has been working hard to keep himself fit for his comeback.
“Mahi gets angry when we ask him questions on his retirement. He still feels he is the fittest of all and quickest wicket-keeper in India,” Dhoni’s friend told ABP News.
“He has worked even harder in last few months before everything stopped. I haven’t seen him doing agility training so intensely ever. He knows he is not getting younger and perhaps that is why training even harder to keep himself fit. He has proved everyone wrong when no one backed him. Now there are millions of fans to back him. So he will take his chances for sure,” he added.
