As the country observes a 21-day lockdown in an attempt to limit the spread of the coronavirus, India skipper Virat Kohli came to fore to thank the Delhi Police for their relentless services during the time of crisis.
As of Saturday morning, India have recorded more than 200 deaths due to Covid-19 and over 7,000 cases. The national capital has seen more than 900 coronavirus positive cases and thus in order to contain the cases, over 30 hotspots have been sealed in Delhi.
“It is heartening for me to know that the police service across the nation is helping so many people in these difficult times,” said Kohli lauding the Delhi Police.
“I want to acknowledge the efforts of Delhi police who have not only performed their duties with absolute honesty but also taken food to the poor people on a daily basis, which is their utmost requirement. So, well done and keep putting in the same effort.”
India fast-bowlers Ishant Sharma also joined Virat Kohli to appreciate the efforts of the Delhi Police personnel.
“Let’s come forward and help Delhi police by staying at our homes. And most importantly not to believe rumours. We will win this fight together. Jai Hind,” said Ishant.
“This is the time to stay at home, spend time with your loved ones and take care of yourself and your family. Delhi police jawans are performing their duties day and night.”
The coronavirus pandemic has taken the world by storm and has shredded the global sporting calendar. The fate of IPL 2020 also seems undecided due to the crisis.
