England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler had nothing but absolute praise for India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma, who he believes is an ‘awesome’ player and makes batting look ridiculously easy. Buttler was doing a social media interaction with fans of the Indian Premier League (IPL) when he hailed Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit and complimented his explosive batting style. The 13th season of the IPL has been further postponed and is unlikely to take place this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
During a Facebook interaction with Royals’ and New Zealand spinner Ish Sodhi, Buttler revealed how impressed he was with the Mumbai Indian skipper. “Rohit Sharma I think is an awesome player. Effortless. Quite a lot of Indian players have that awesome style,” said Buttler. “One of the things I have seen with Rohit is that if he gets in, he scores big runs and really affects the game. He must have scored 4-5 hundreds in the World Cup last year,” the Englishman added.
Rohit had a record-breaking 2019 World Cup in which India made it to semi-finals of the quadrennial event. The 32-year-old scripted history by becoming the first batsman to score as many as five centuries in a single edition. In awe of Rohit’s effortless batting style, Buttler lauded the Hitman for also being a good player of short deliveries. The Royals wicketkeeper-batsman asserted that he likes how Rohit takes players down with his trouble-free batting nature.
“It’s not really the case now, but I think a few years ago people used to attack Indian players with the short ball but Rohit smashes them. Then you go fuller and he smashes them right down the ground. He has been fantastic for a long time and I just like the way he bats and the effortless nature in which he takes people down,” Buttler added.
