One of the best openers in international cricket, Rohit Sharma is celebrating his 33rd birthday on Thursday. On the occasion, Team India’s white-ball vice-captain is receiving wishes from his fans, colleagues and former cricketers. Rohit also received a special wish from his former teammate Gautam Gambhir.
The former India opener hailed Rohit as the best white-ball cricketer in the world. Both Gambhir and Rohit played few matches together. “Happy Birthday to the best white-ball cricketer in the world. @ImRo45 ! Have a great year ahead!!,” Gambhir wrote on Twitter.
Rohit is the only cricketer to score more than one double-century in ODIs (three) and is currently fourth on the list of players with most sixes in ODIs (244 sixes). Rohit also holds a unique record of scoring most runs in boundaries in an ODI – he scored 186 runs in boundaries during his innings of 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014.
The right-handed batsman was the highest run-scorer in the 2019 World Cup; he scored 648 runs in nine matches that included five centuries. Rohit also finished the year 2019 as highest run-scorer – 1490 runs in 28 matches.
With 2773 runs in 108 T20Is, Rohit is the second-highest run-scorer in the shortest format. He has also been involved in most 100+ partnerships (10 times) in T20Is. With four centuries, Rohit sits at the top on the list of most 100+ scores and also tops the list of hitting most sixes (127).
