Indian opener and limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma recently turned 33 on April 30 (Thursday). The 33-year-old right-hander featured on Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues’ talk-show, ‘The Double Trouble’, where he spoke in length on many varied aspects from the gentlemen’s game and revealed an interesting, and hilarious, fact related to Mohammed Shami.
Rohit and Shami both made their Test debuts together during the home series versus West Indies in late 2013. Since then, both have featured in many memorable games for the Men in Blue and share a good rapport with each other. Hence, Rohit hilariously trolled Shami and stated that the Indian speedster tries his luck on a green top, at nets, by eating extra biryani.
Rohit said, “The pitches we have for net sessions are almost always green with moisture. And whenever Shami sees a green pitch, he eats extra biryani! Bumrah is also difficult but he has been around only for two-three years. Shami, I have been playing since 2013. But yeah, right now there must be a competition going on between Bumrah and Shami, on who beats the bat most, who can hit the most on the helmets.”
Rohit celebrated his 33rd birthday at home, in Mumbai, with his family. However, the cricketer also took out time and responded to his well-wishers from the Indian cricket team as well as his fans for wishing him on his special day.
