England all-rounder Ben Stokes created quite a stir in the Indian cricketing spectrum he said that the likes of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma showed no intent against the Englishmen in the 2019 ICC World Cup match. The star player, however, has clarified that he did not mean to say that India lost that match against England deliberately, after former Pakistan cricketer Sikander Bakht’s ‘twisting of words’.
With India’s league stage match against England at the showpiece event set to play its part in deciding Pakistan’s fate in the tournament, Bakht had accused India of deliberately losing the match to Eoin Morgan’s men in order to make sure that Pakistan don’t go through to the semi-finals.
After Stokes claimed to have seen ‘not intent’ from the top Indian batters in the match, Bakht on to tweet that even Stokes has echoed his sentiments in the book which proves that India had, in fact, lost the match to England on purpose.
“Ben Stokes writes in his book that India lost to England deliberately to remove Pakistan from world Cup 19 and we predicted it. Pakistan India relationship,” he had tweeted with an old video talking of the same conspiracy during the World Cup.
As a Twitterati asked as to where in his book has Stokes mentioned that India had lost the World Cup match to Pakistan deliberately, the English all-rounder responded saying: “You won’t find it cause I have never said it… it’s called “twisting of words” or “click bait”.
