India opener and white-ball vice-captain Rohit Sharma returned back to the field on Thursday as he had his first outdoor training session after 3 months hiatus due to the coronavirus.
Earlier, Virat Kohli, Rohit, KL Rahul among others were limited to indoor training due to the extension of the lockdown to control the spread of the novel coronavirus. A few players like Mohammed Shami, who owns a cricket ground at his residence in Uttar Pradesh, R Ashwin and Shardul Thakur have had a taste of outdoor training.
A fit-again Rohit Sharma was craving to get some batting practice before being back on the field to play competitive cricket. Rohit had suffered a calf-injury during New Zealand tour and was to mark his return to competitive cricket in IPL 2020 but the cash-rich T20 league was postponed indefinitely due to Covid-19 lockdown.
Rohit Sharma shared post-workout picture on his official Instagram handle and captioned the post, “Good to be back on the park getting some work done, felt like myself after a long time.” However, from the post, it couldn’t be ascertained which ground he trained.
