The Big Bash League (BBL) Season 10 schedule is out, with the new season beginning on December 03. The Indian Premier League (IPL) future, however, still remains in the dark.

There have been doubts over the entire quarantine process and safety of players travelling from different countries to play cricket matches but keeping that uncertainty over because of COVID-19 in mind, Cricket Austalia has announced a flexible and longer schedule for the Season 10 of BBL.

The 10th edition of the T20 league in Australia will begin 2 weeks before the Season 9 had, giving the organisers some room to play around with the fixtures in a case where some drastic measures are required to be taken due to the Coronavirus.

The BBL 10 will also see some of its matches clash with Australia’s bilateral series against India Down Under which means that some of the top players like Steve Smith, David Warner and Pat Cummins will not be available throughout the season to their franchises.

The season begins with Melbourne Strikers vs Melbourne Renegades opener taking place at the Adelaide Oval on December 03, 2020.

BBL boss Alistair Dobson spoke about the new season, its challenges and how the organisers plan to host a complete season despite the COVID-19 uncertainty around the globe.

“As the BBL approaches its tenth season, the League, our Clubs and our Partners are doing everything possible to ensure that we are set and ready to go for a great Summer of Big Bash,” Dobson said.

“Scheduling in the time of coronavirus is not without its challenges, as we have seen in elite sporting conditions at home and abroad, and there are factors outside the League itself which could impact the fixture at a later date.

“That said, at this time, we are happy with the fixture as it stands and excited to celebrate a decade of Big Bash with Australian fans during the summer.

“It should ensure that more BBL matches are played in prime time and enable the regular season to again finish inside the school holidays which was a key objective, particularly in light of the busy international schedule planned for the coming summer.

“We will also be making more announcements in due course about enhancements to the League that we are confident will excite and delight fans across the country.”
