With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 13 set to commence from September 19, excitement knows no boundaries for cricket fanatics whereas the experts of the game and former cricketers have shared their predictions for the upcoming edition. In this regard, former Australia pacer Brett Lee named his favourites for the 13th edition.
He believes the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will once again prove to be a tough nut to crack in the UAE. “I reckon their strength is that their players are a bit more elderly, mature. They’ve got that youth coming through but they’ve got a lot of players who’ve been around a long, long time and I’d say that’s their greatest strength,” Lee said on the Cricket Connected Show on Star Sports.
He further opined, “It’s definitely right up there and that will definitely suit those wickets. Recently, I’ve looked at the forecast for the next two or three weeks. It’s 40 degrees, plus the wickets will surely turn. Therefore, I feel CSK will feel a lot more at home. Imagine all those spinners getting big rips, big turn. I reckon they are definitely suited for this tournament and should definitely be favorites.”
A majority of the CSK players will step onto the field after a long gap, such as Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Chahar (who returns from injury), Bravo, Tahir, Watson, Faf du Plessis, etc.
