Rjasthan Royals’ all-rounder Rahul Tewatia said it was a special feeling for him when he got Virat Kohli’s signed jersey from the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain himself during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 meeting on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
Rahul Tewatia, the new-found start of the IPL, said he is one of the many players who seeks inspiration from Virat Kohli, a ‘legend of the game’. Tewatia said he had requested for a jersey from the India captain before the match between RCB and RR on Saturday and that the star batsman was gracious enough to gift him a signed jersey.
“Before the match, I asked for Virat’s jersey. He came and gave me the jersey after signing it. It’s a special feeling. He is a legend of the game.
“He inspires a lot of people, I am one of them. The way he has proved himself to the world, he is a legendary player. It’s a special feeling for me,” Tewatia told Rajasthan Royals.
In the video shared by the franchise, Virat Kohli can be seen signing his jersey and gifting it to the all-rounder with a big smile on his face. Yuzvendra Chahal was also seen accompanying his RCB captain as Tewatia got the special gift. Notably, Tewatia and Chahal play for Haryana in the domestic tournaments.
Rahul Tewatia shot to prominence when he played one of the most memorable knocks in the history of the IPL as he led RR to a stunning comeback win against the Kings XI Punjab in Sharjah last week. Tewatia hit a 31-ball 53 as RR broke the record for the highest successful run chase in IPL, gunning down 224 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
