Virat Kohli has been appointed as the captain of ICC’s Test Team of the decade. The star-studded squad also includes Indian spinner R Ashwin, who made his debut in 2011. The ICC has picked former England captain Alastair Cook, Steven Smith, Kumar Sangakkara and others in the Test team.

Starting with Kohli, the Indian captain was handed over the charge during the 2014/15 season. The only Asian captain with a Test series win in Australia, Kohli is already India’s most successful captain with 33 wins in 56 matches.

Ashwin has been India’s go-to spinner since his debut. He has never been dropped from the Test side. Though he has sat out of playing XI on a few occasions. Ashwin has 373* wickets in 73* Test matches.

Cook, who retired from international cricket in 2018, has been picked to open the innings with David Warner. The first-ever English batsman to score 10000 Test runs, Cook scored 12472 runs. Warner, a regular across all formats, has 7244 runs in the longest format.

Following them is New Zealand skipper, Kane Williamson. The right-handed batsman has scored 6856* runs in 82* Test matches. He is followed by Kohli.
