Fast bowler Thangarasu Natarajan on Friday made his debut for India in the Brisbane Test and with it became the first Indian cricketer to make his international debut across all three formats during the same tour. Former India batsman Virender Sehwag took to social media to congratulate Natarajan and said that his story is what ‘dreams are made of’.
“Natarajan’s story is a stuff dreams are made of. Feel delighted for the young man,” Sehwag tweeted on Friday.
The tour of Australia has only gotten better for him since he was picked for it as a net bowler after a good performance for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2020.
Natarajan took 16 wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad as his team bowed out in the Eliminator of the tournament, and was crowned as the yorker specialist.
He made his international debut in the third ODI against Australia on December 2 in Canberra, which India won by 13 runs, after coming in as a back-up for Navdeep Saini who had a back niggle. Natarajan made an immediate impact by taking two wickets for 70 runs from his 10 overs.
Natarajan then played his part in India’s 2-1 series win in the subsequent three-match T20 International rubber by taking six wickets during the series. He was added to the T20I squad as a replacement for mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy who got his maiden India call-up before being ruled out.
